December 2021: Tis the Season to Pay It Forward

Let’s Bring John Home for the Holidays

My work in helping seniors and their families navigate the maze of Senior Living Communities is rewarding and my focus is keeping safety and care as a top priority. John, one of my clients, is sadly being evicted from his community for lack of funds. John is a gem. He is a widower with no children or family. He is a cat lover and adores music—specifically hymns and opera. Despite having kidney failure and being on dialysis, he is full of life and does not know a stranger.

I am working to find him a community that can care for him within his budget. He has a monthly shortfall every month and lacks the funds to pay the community fee and move.

Too often seniors are the forgotten population. There are so many circumstances I come across where the senior ends up short at the end of their life. Sometimes this is lack of planning but other times there are situations and series of unfortunate events that find them struggling to make ends meet. Our system does not have many solutions for those that do not have family and enough funds but are not sick enough for a Medicaid bed in a nursing home.

Therefore, I need your help. I’ve started a GoFundMe together with my partners in Chicago and Philly. Please help us help John and bring him home for the Holidays.

Mom Got New Wheels

Check out my mom and the New Motivo Tour. Over Thanksgiving, I gave my mother this new walker. She absolutely loves it. She is standing up straight and can fit an oxygen tank in the storage space when we go out. “This chair is so comfortable that I even use it to watch television instead of my recliner sometimes,” she said.

If you want to check out to Motivo Tour for your loved one and get $100 off use code SLSHOUSTON100 and visit www.buymotivo.com
